The nasal pharyngeal swab is considered the better test, heard some places would do both throat and nose but what you describe would seem less effective, not saying it can’t be . Maybe things have changed but our hospital is still doing nasal. Maybe they found most patients could not tolerate it well enough to be effective decided to go to that method.
