It's not a recent revelation either. We have been steady in new cases with a slight downward trend for almost 2 months.
Now here is the part people don't want to accept: Flattening the curve does not mean reducing cases. Many, many, many experts stated from the get go that the number of cases will be the same just drawn out over a longer period of time.
Or to put it simply, the area under the respective bell curves, i.e. flattened and not flattened, is the same. It's the amount of time in which said area is spread out that is the difference.
