The Germans lost the war to Russia in the first year when they did not capture Moscow. However, the lack of threat from the west would have meant less resources needed to create Fortress Europa in France. I agree with Rain Man that the British would have had very little power to stop the Nazis in Africa. The infusion of oil in the Mid-East would have meant a stalemate on the Eastern front. Eventually an uneasy peace would have been signed between the Germans and Russians. The Germans were not very effective on the defensive but were able to counterattack sufficiently to hold off the Russians. The Japanese would have still needed the resources that caused them to attack America in the first place. They eventually would have needed to attack, but with the added delay the Germans would have felt no pressure to join on their side, especially after taking the Mid-East. That is the plum which would spell victory in the long term for them.
