It's no different than the Chiefs shelling out $40+ million for Sammy Watkins, who barely made a dent this season but without him, the Chiefs wouldn't have won the 2019 Super Bowl nor would they have gone to OT in the 2018 AFC Championship Game.
Some "Win Now" moves are worth it, regardless of the aftermath.
