They said his contract will make it hard. Then said he can't be cut until cleared. And THEN said "his contract" is guaranteed.
So the first sentence seems to imply that it is the cause of the 2nd sentence. But the 3rd sentence explicitly mentions the contract while the 2nd sentence doesn't, so again, it's worded poorly.

His contract. Because of his injury guarantee. They can cut him but if he can't pass the physical they'd still owe him 11+ mil this season. And if he's still on the roster by April 1, the whole next year guarantees. So if he doesn't pass the physical by April 1, the 49ers will be on the hook for the majority of his contract next year anyway and may just keep him. They would still save some cap space but not much.
