I usually go out of my way to avoid Royal/celebratory gossip/interview. But I was hanging out with my mom and she wanted to watch it so I did also.
For all the hate she gets, I thought Meghan came across as more down to earth and compelling than I expected. She did a good job of convincing me that life inside the gilded jail was probably pretty screwed up and her life, and perhaps even her husband's Harry, might be better off outside. Yes, it was only one side and not following the gossip I don't know the monarchy's side. But Meghan made a reasonably compelling case and she came across on camera better than I expected.
She certainly convinced me that the monarchy as an institution is screwed up and even by the screwed up standards of "never complain and never explain" she probably got a raw deal. If you say you are suicidal and need help and the response is tough ****, that ain't right. It doesn't matter how big your bathroom is or how many servants you have.
She convinced me she is better off outside of it. She convinced me that the UK taxpayer's should get rid of the monarchy.
Like any couple with a young kid and another on the way, I wish them good luck for a long and happy marriage. They will probably need it.
