In addition to a salary bump, a title bump helps these men with their careers.
If a guy is a Director, the next logical step is Senior Director, then GM or VP. If you keep him at the Director level, another team might try to swoop in and make him their Senior Director, so this basically prevents other teams from "stealing" the Chiefs important personnel while giving the individual an incentive to continue working at a high level and to let them know they have value.
