-port wing – Uh-oh. A bullet penetrates the outboard fuel tank, and in a flash of light and heat the entire tank explodes. The initial explosion throws the plane to the right, and it then violently rolls to the left and begins a long, violent corkscrew into the ground.


Copilot papasmurf (6) and Navigator Alphaman (6) are killed in the initial explosion.

Pilot Morphius (3), Radio Op. Redbrian (6), Ball Turret Gunner MrBlond (2) are knocked unconscious in the initial explosion, and mercifully do not know when they hit the ground in the near-sonic-speed crash.

Engineer RednFeisty (2) and Tail Gunner Chief Henry (6) aren’t so lucky. They survive the initial explosion, but are pinned inside the plane by centrifugal forces. They can’t escape from the doomed plane and have no chance as it buries itself into the Dutch countryside.

Left Waist Gunner MikeTheWildcat (2) took the brunt of the explosion and was thrown out of the plane immediately. Seriously injured and on fire, he deploys his chute, but it too is on fire. The chute fails at 4,000 feet and he becomes a flaming projectile.

Bombardier Saggysack (2) is hurled from the plane at 14,000 feet, crashing through the plexiglass nose. Semi-conscious and disoriented, he deploys his chute too quickly and it shreds at high speed. He becomes a projectile as well.

Right Waist Gunner jenson71 (5) is hurled from the plane at 3,000 feet. At that point, he is diving too fast to deploy his chute and too disoriented to do it anyway. He too slams into Dutch soil.
