His cap hit is fine this year - dirt cheap, in fact.
Next year's is tolerable, especially if you look at a 2 year average (which is fair in the rollover era).
If we cut him after year 3, we'd have spent $48 million in cap on him after factoring in the dead money. 3/16 million per isn't really "Very good left tackle" money. It's....Taylor Decker money? Taylor Decker is pretty much dead-ass average, no?
It's not cheap, but he's an elite player and they never are, regardless of position.
But ultimately I'm pretty strongly opposed to restructures wherever possible. They're just kicking the can and sometimes you end up spending for the sake of spending when that happens.
