In reality, it wasn't just Jim Kelly/Buffalo losing to the NFC back then, it was every AFC QB including quarterbacks Dan Marino and John Elway losing for a total of 13 straight seasons and 15 out of 16 seasons.
Unlike most AFC quarterbacks during that stretch of games, at least Kelly came close once and would have won it if his FG kicker made a makeable kick.
Free agency or whatever has evened out the leagues more but for a long time, NFC dominated.
