I think the NFL overtime is just about perfect.
1) Field goals are a pretty weak achievement and definitely should NOT end a game. Currently, they do not on the first possession and the other team gets a shot with the ball.
2) Touchdowns are far more difficult to achieve and probably should end a game. This tips the advantage toward franchise QBs, which is clearly where the league wants the advantage in any game to be.
2a) Is the argument really that a defense can't prevent touchdowns? I mean, FFS, if that's the case, perhaps all sorts of NFL rules need changed and it's not really the "fault" of overtime.
3) The team winning the overtime coin toss has a 52.8% chance of winning. If the goal is 50/50, we're pretty much there. Honestly, if that's not good enough, just have a coin toss determine the winner. THEN you'd have the 50/50 that you desire. FFS, this is stupid.
EDIT: Just saw SNR's post #9 covered this pretty well. Just leave it the **** alone and quit crying.
