Honestly, man, Idk. Back in those days I used to get complimented pretty frequently. Total strangers would say "Oh, you're so handsome" "You have such a nice smile" blah blah. These days I don't hear compliments nearly as often.
I may have gotten uglier, but I hope not! Back in those days I probably weighed 145 pounds, had no facial hair. I've always looked younger than my years so maybe that played a role.
I was also in college and working restaurant jobs so I was coming in contact with more people.

Me "winning" that contest actually spawned another convo at a different restaurant job I held. I mentioned it to my coworkers and one of the girls said I was "cute" so it made sense. Our manager was an older guy and he was like "Telling a man he's cute is not a compliment!" He was basically saying if a woman thought he was cute, he'd rather her just not say it to him lol
I get where he's coming from. Calling a man cute or pretty is sort of effeminate. I just disagree.
