He's allowed to want any partner he likes. He may want a regressive-style partner. Cool. That's for him.
But he doesn't speak for all or even most men these days. So don't generalize your outdated beliefs onto everyone else just to make yourself feel more respectable, or worse to try to normalize it more widely.
All he had to do was say "my needs" instead of "a man's needs", and then he can just agree to disagree with anyone who objects.
