Since we are going down memory lane with this one.

A Tale of Chiefs 3rd Round TEs

TE Brad Cottam - 6-8, 270 pounds coming out of Tennessee
But while attending Tennessee -
2004 torn ligaments in left thumb that required surgery also had shoulder scoped.
2005 reconstructive surgery on right shoulder
2007 tear in abdomen muscle and dislocated his left wrist that required surgery.
Stats for career at Tennessee - 21 catches, 341 yards, 1 TD.

Chiefs drafted him 3-76 in 2008 (Carl Peterson GM). He played in 24 games, had 16 catches, 183 yards. In 2009 Brad broke his neck in a game. He landed on his head while leaping over a defender. Chiefs medical team worked with him to help his recovery but finally waived him in 2011 when he failed his physical. Scott Pioli had become GM in 2009.

TE Tony Moeaki at Iowa
2007 dislocated his elbow and broke hand (4 games played).
2008 broke his left foot (9 games played).
2009 Tony played 10 games. Career stats at Iowa in 5 years. 76 catches, 953 yards, 11 TDs.
2010 the Chiefs with Scott Pioli as the GM drafted Tony Moeaki 3-93.
2011 on IR for the season
2013 fractured shoulder in preseason, waived with injury designation then put on IR when no team claimed. Later that same year released with an injury settlement.

TE Travis Kelce - 6-5, 255 pounds coming out of Cincinnati
No injury history at Cincinnati but sat out 2010 for violating team rules. Career at Cincinnati - 59 catches, 875 yards, 10 TDs with most of his stats in his senior year in 2012.
2013 Kansas City Chiefs (John Dorsey GM) drafts Travis Kelce 3-63.
2013 Knee Patella Fracture - Kelce had arthroscopic surgery on his bothersome knee, which revealed a cartilage issue that led to a microfracture procedure. He missed all but 1 play of 2013 but didn't lose another game to the knee. Original injury deemed a bone bruise. Since then, Travis has been fairly healthy with chest/rib strain, ankle sprain, a couple concussions, knee strain, and neck stinger.

Travis has been golden for the Chiefs, but he is now 32 years old and will be 33 during the season.

Is it maybe time for another 3rd round Tight End, this time with Brett Veach as the GM?
