We could have had Booth and Karlaftis without giving away that 3rd (and 4th next year), that we could have used to grab a safety in the 3rd (I like Cross from Maryland a lot) instead of giving 2 picks away. Now we still need another true CB, with one less top 100 pick because McDuffie is basically going to be playing the honey badger role as a safety/slot/cover guy.
Love Karlaftis. I think that was the steal of the entire 1st round and I'm a lot higher on him than most. Effort/character guy who will do anything to succeed. I don't mind that he didn't test very well or may not have the most quickness. He just turned 21 a few weeks ago and has a lot of room for improvement. He just wins, albeit as a power rusher. I know he's going to be a good player.
Now if we can find a way to get 1 of the 3 remaining WRs of Skyy Moore, George Pickens, or Christian Watson - this will pretty much be a successful draft. If not, gotta grab Mickens and stash him.
We are right up there with BAL and DET and NYJ/NYG having the best 1st rounds.
Player's I'd love to target today:
50: Christian Watson. Travis Jones. Josh Paschal. Abraham Lucas, Nic Bonitto
62: Jalyn Armour-Davis. John Metchie. Troy Anderson. Alec Pierce. Perion Winfrey.
Would love to see us try and package 50, 135, and maybe a 5th rounder next year if necessary to move up for Skyy Moore if he lasts around 40. I am warming up to him a lot in this offense.

Only really just had time to look and consider the picks. I wasn't particularly high on Karlaftis, and I was keen on a WR early and hadn't really considered moving up for a CB. So I should be fairly underwhelmed. But I've been calling for more investment at CB for years, and I think you really have to work hard to hate either pick.
Karlaftis at 30 should be excellent value even if his ceiling is pretty low. I really don't see the high end that some do, but I cannot see anyway he doesn't make us better at DL. Even if that means a better run defender and just a marginal increase in pressure, I think it's fine. I liked some of the better pure pass rushers, but perhaps we can get some of those one trick ponies later in the draft. Also think getting Ingram back with Karlaftis would help. I'm probably as low on Karlaftis as anyone here, and I still really like the pick.
For McDuffie, yes, I'd love the picks, CBs in R1 have bust a lot recently, and my priority was WR. But I've been wanting to see what a Spags defence looks like with even just a slight improvement in talent at CB through the draft, so I've got to be consistent. He's got everything you want for success. I love the pick, I think he's an excellent football player, and if he somehow doesn't make it then you've got to say it's bad luck.
