A coaching upgrade would help any team. That goes without saying.
What it comes down to is if you don't have a solid QB/HC combo, you've got nothing. Denver checks neither box. Coming into the year, both boxes should have been viewed as a question mark at best. It wasn't only rival fans pointing out Wilson's decline. And as for Hackett, what reason did anyone have to think that he could have more success than Carroll or any other decent coach?
And yet, here were Denver fans, chest-bumping after Wilson's contract was announced and predicting they'd be in the SB hunt for years. 80% of posters at the Huddle predicted 10-14 wins this season.
