Yeah, I think Spags has to work with the premise that he needs to keep Allen in the pocket, or force him to his left if he's going to send blitzers. Can't blitz him all the time, or without a plan, or Allen will escape and hurt us with his legs and arm. But he's been pretty good about that sort of thing. The real question is will our new pieces up front be good enough to get it done.
As i've said since preseason, I think this defense is going to be a work in progress until sometime after midseason. At this point I'm used to it, so while our secondary isn't as good as I'd like them to be, I also know that they'll probably be much better as the season goes along.
Today they're going to get torched a bit, but Spags will learn a lot from it, and so will our Dbs. But I'm going to be very interested to see how our DL does. Wish Gay was playing; he just covers up so many flaws with his sheer athleticism.
