Played a lot in my 20's and early 30's. Started back up in my 50's. Always had a bad slice due to inside takeaway and loop on the downswing. Took lessons, things got much worse from there. Have so many thoughts going through my head that I have no idea what to do. Have the yips on putts and chips. Have no idea if I'm going to hit a pull hook or push slice so I just aim straight in the hope that I will randomly hit it straight.
People tell me I have a beautiful practice swing however once the ball is placed in front of me, I swing like I'm in concrete shoes. If I drink enough to forget about everything, I play pretty well.
I change my grip, try different setups, etc. Everything helps for a while and then the old inside takeaway and over the top loop comes back. My divot with no ball is down the target line and with a ball goes 30 to 45 degrees to the left. I hit everything really high and weak because the club face is wide open. If the club is square, I hit a horrible pull that's usually OB.
I'm seriously ball bound.
I tried waggling to keep everything moving. It worked pretty well the first time however when I play with other people, I get so nervous about playing badly that I just play badly. I'm so far inside my own head, I can't find my way out. My whole game is one giant YIP.
