It starts at 2:52. He's done things like this the entire time he's been here. He needs to ride the pine.

Meh.
I mean, sure, it sure looks like he had open field to his right. Of course, no one is mentioning 45 standing right there looking right at him just 4-5 yards off the LoS waiting for the cutback.
But that was literally his first run of the day. He's obviously just trying to follow his blocking. Most RBs need a few snaps, or even a couple drives to get warmed up, and most people just don't realize that.
But CEH has seemed kind of stuck on following his blocks blindly. I'd personally like to see him ad lib more. Just try the cutback a few times a game and see what happens. Hell, he's supposed to be elusive in open space 1v1 with the defender. Maybe he makes 45 miss. And he didn't even have to make 45 miss completely to convert. Just enough for him to slither forward a couple yards.
But that play was blown up by 90 and 29. No RB was going to convert on that play as it unfolded. Just simply that the 49ers defense played that down as well as it could be played.
Sorry, I have to make one correction: Barry Sanders is the one RB in NFL history that turns the corner on that blown up play and converts for the first, if not a huge gain/TD. Otherwise, if you're anybody else you're ****ed. 49ers D won that snap. Shit happens.
