It’s not unusual for a pitcher with a TORN UCL to see a small velocity spike right before the injury. It’s a weird little phenomenon that happens occasionally.

Greg Holland pitched almost the entire 2015 regular season for the Royals with at least a partially torn UCL before it finally let go and he had to get surgery.
