And now we are the number 1 seed, again. 5 years in a row as the 1 seed if the playoff started today.

The Elway years sucked. The Manning and Brady years sucked. But this is different. None of those teams were this dominant.

The only team I can think of that is even close to being as dominant in their conference was the 1990-1993 Bills who won’t he conference 4 years in a row
The Titans were the #1 seed in AFC last year and Baltimore was also the number 1 seed when KC won the Super Bowl. It is true Chiefs could host the AFC championship game 5 straight years which is very impressive but they missed the number 1 seed twice during that stretch.

NE from 2011 to 2018 went to at least the AFC conference championship game 8 straight years including 5 SB appearances/3 SB wins before losing in first round of playoffs Brady's last year. All of those years, they were the #1 or #2 seed in AFC and even the year before this streak they were 14-2 before getting upset in first round of playoffs by the NY Jets.

Barring major injuries, no one should have expected the Chiefs to fall apart since they got a lot for Hill/still had Mahomes/Kelce and had some good value FA signings on offense.

The Raiders were outscored by 65 points last year. That is more indicative of their ability than their inflated record last year.

As for Denver. If anything their defense has overachieved a little bit even though it was expected to still be very good. It really is their offense that has disappointed even though it was a stretch to think Denver would have a truly high powered offense... blame Russell Wilson trade/injuries for Denver's offense not doing more. The Broncos seemed like a threat to finally beat the Chiefs in a regular season game this year but I never felt they were a major threat to win the AFC West.

Chargers. They were the one AFC West team that looked like a realistic threat to a healthy Chiefs team. Injuries may have hurt them.
