We're in this for the long haul. Paton ****ed us so badly with the Wilson trade/contract. It's going to be a very long time before we are good again. By then, none of our current good players (Simmons, Surtain, etc.) will be on the roster anymore. We are on the path to being a Detroit/Washington/NYJ level organization.

The humiliating thing is the league won’t bother flexing us out of the SNF spot against KC in a few weeks just so they can prime time dickride Mahomes for three hours and talk about how shitty we’ve been. Our defense will be gassed by that point of the season and give up a 40-burger no doubt.

Thank you for some common sense. All of this is on Paton for not doing his job correctly. It wasn’t just me - a lot of guys were on here over the summer calling the Hackett hire a botched attempt at getting Rodgers that resulted in a nice-guy nepotism hire getting his friends together for American Pie 5: Mile High Edition. Many of us also said the Russ trade and subsequent contract was arrogant and short-sighted, and would be okay at best, and WOAT at worst. We all got downvoted and negged into oblivion for being fake fans.
So no, we aren’t the bad guys for criticizing a guy whose one job is to get stuff like this right. We missed on Fields, Jones and Parsons for a CB, we missed on McDaniels and O’Connell (Blowout aside) for Hackett, we traded up and missed on god knows how much talent last year for a RB with no vision who’s career will never be the same, we’ve taken no shots on OL through 2 drafts, we brought in an over-the-hill JAG who FAILED A PHYSICAL to be our savior at RT, and now we have a 34-year old 5’11 mobile QB locked into the worst contract in NFL history. It’s time to look at the guy who put this all in motion.
