Bowser and Dave Lane abandon their positions and sprint back to the howling wind at the rear of the plane. Bracing themselves against the plane’s ribs, they haul Bug back into the plane foot by foot. Patting them on the back in thanks, he moves up with jelly legs to the heated radio room and gloms off of roger’s backup oxygen supply. Bowser and Dave Lane return to their positions, and radio gunner roger and ball turret gunner 4th and Long are extra watchful at the B-17’s 6 o’clock position.
