I’m not an old school purist or anything but there are certainly times when I’m like “**** going for it, I’d rather take the 3 points”. You’ll win some and lose some on those choices, but you’ve got to stand on the decisions you do make.

Yeah there are definitely times when taking the 3 (or attempting to, anyway) makes more sense. But in the situation last night, the Chargers could've ended the game, for all intents and purposes, with a TD. If they failed, well they're still up two scores with like 8 minutes left. Obviously, that ended up being irrelevant because Chargers, but I'm going for the win there every time. In most cases in today's NFL, your offense is your strongest unit. The Chargers certainly fall into that category as do the Chiefs. I don't think the case as is clear cut for Herbert being the Chargers best player as it is for Mahomes being ours, but that's the way they try to pump him up, so you go with that guy having the ball and the chance to win every time.....
But the Chargers probably Charger even if up 17 with 8 minutes left anyway.
