Yeah there are definitely times when taking the 3 (or attempting to, anyway) makes more sense. But in the situation last night, the Chargers could've ended the game, for all intents and purposes, with a TD. If they failed, well they're still up two scores with like 8 minutes left. The Chargers didn’t lose because they kicked FGs. If they make the missed one they probably pull it out. They lost the game because they had Herbert throw the ball 43 times in a game they led by 27 points. You could argue they have the second best RB in the league. They gave him the ball 13 times last night. He has only 2-3 receptions. When your up you need to shorten the game. It seemed like a foreign concept to the chargers
