Anyway, Andy is a big part of the team's success, that's not a lie. All you have to do is take your hypothetical Mahomes and install him on say the ten worst teams in the league.
I'm not talking the ten teams with the worst record in 2022, I mean the least talented, most dysfunctional teams. Teams like CHI, CLE, IND, LVR . . . could Mahomes cover all their warts? Not all of them, no. He'd get a lot of them to the playoffs, even win them a playoff game, but no way even Mahomes could carry some of those teams.
Thing is, now Mahomes is in his prime. He's operating at a Manning level, or Montana, Brady; he's playing at wizard level. If Mahomes were a rookie, with no mentoring from Andy, just a ton of raw talent, but delivered to the likes of Adam Gase, forget it. He'd still be good, but no way he's who he is now under the "tutelage" of Adam Gase or Rhule or Freddie Kitchens.
