I am the same. I am clinical not creative. I know the keys to play on a sheet of music. That is all. I am not gifted and takes work to put 2+1+3+4=10. The same with keys on a piano. and practice. It gets easier to do the addition with practice.
But as I get better, I find relaxing enjoyment. In fact, no matter at what level, it is fun to try, even twinkle little star. A sense of accomplishment....not the same as computer games and leveling up
I have a decent ear. So I think if I could learn how to chord, I could cheat.
