I brought up Duncan because there was no evidence Grifol ever really did anything with the Royals. Duncan was the first to whistleblow about the strange approach Grifol was having our players take at the plate in 2014's Spring Training (while he was our hitting coach). Grifol was the one who disastrously had our players switch their approach by "being aggressive with low pitches" to start the 2014 season until he resigned mid-year due to the Royals amazingly hitting no homers and into ground ball outs at an alarming rate to start the year.
He then was our catching coach for a while -- he was the one who got Salvy to do that "whipping/poke motion" to try to frame pitchers that helped result in Salvy to be among the worst in the league at framing pitches.
And beyond that, he was just always sort of around -- sort of in roles epitomized by this gif (Salvy seemed to like him, tho, FWIW).
We haven't had much to cheer about. But hey -- watching the White Sox quit is always fun no matter what year it is (did they really blow their window with nothing to show for it other than a pitstop by Tony La Russa?)
