That's really the kind of guy they need to stumble onto every now and then if they want to be competitive. Rooker's not a young guy, but he's cheap and has power. And he seems to have a decent eye.
At worst he's a guy who's value you build and then deal at the deadline for an arm.
He'll get exposed soon enough and I'd be surprised if he ended with an OPS over .800. He's a dead pull hitter with holes in his swing so the league will adjust.
But man, the Royals just waived him after they traded for him? That's bizarre. Just looking at his stats, he should've had an option left. That time with the Twins was in September - they wouldn't have optioned him back down and you don't use one to purchase a contract.
So he'd have used an option in 2021 and 2022 - he almost has to have an option left. And rather than just option him down, the Royals waived him to clear a 40 man slot for...who?
That's just lousy asset management.

Rocker was acquired for a backup catcher. He put up a whopping -.2 WAR and was pretty awful. He was a turd that even San Diego wanted to get rid of. Pure ass luck He is hitting in Oakland. It's mainly just Prison Bitch being his normal self.
