The Royals need to let Zack Greinke DH. He's always wanted to be a position player / hitter so he would be 100% down. He's a legitimately better hitter than I would guess 4-6 of the Royal regulars.
For his career, Zack Greinke has a .225/.262/.336 line, with a walk rate of 4.3% and a K-rate of 19.0%. That batting average is higher than Jackie Bradley Junior this season and about on par with Bobby Witt Junior. It's way better than Nicky Lopez. That K-rate is far better than MJ Melendez (25.8%) and the godawful Pratto (36.8%). Nate Eaton has put up a 52.0% K-rate for ****s sake! Greinke has pop too - he's hit 9 bombs in a bit less than a season's worth of PAs (600). Greinke has never gotten regular, every day ABs, and if he did, he could hit well better than his career marks.
In conclusion, Greinke is one of the 9 best hitters on the team and only Pasquantino is legitimately, demonstrably better. It's a waste to have him not hit when they have far worse hitters getting regular playing time. The fans would love it, Greinke would love it, attendance figures would love it. What's the risk? The Royals lose more games than they have been?
