As for the debate, we won't know how it shakes out until that first game. Who knows how it will settle. Smith could be washed for all we know.
That being said, the one thing I was adamant about other than my opinion on what I thought they would do is that I am all in on what they DID. I didn't "want" anything this offseason, which made this draft awesome for me. I see the fits for everybody now because I'm just simply not worried about the offseason anymore. Thanks Andy, thanks Veach!
I think the Smith signing is great. The upside is huge. The idea of him playing at a high level on the left with Taylor on the right is drool inducing.

Yeah. If Smith is what he was in 2021, he's about the same as Orlando Brown overall... except a better pass blocker and weaker run blocker, and much more mobile. Smith is athletic enough for them to dust off the plays they used to run with Eric Fisher in space (which Brown couldn't do). And Taylor would obviously be a huge upgrade from Wylie.
And beyond that, the depth... behind Smith at LT you'd have:
1: Taylor
2: Wanya Morris
3: Lucas Niang (Or flop him with Morris if you think they would)
4: Joe Thuney
5: Prince Tano-Wanogha
That's the best T depth the Chiefs have had in a long time and a far cry from the days of hoping Cam Erving could handle LT.
