Just a reminder that the 2019 Raptors had the best player in the game that year as LeBron was hurt (healthy Kawhi), a 6 time all-star at his peak (Lowry), a 3 time all-star and former DPOY (Gasol, who completely locked up Embiid), a future 2-time all-star (Siakam), a future all-star (FVV), a 3-time All-Defensive NBA First Team (Ibaka) and the perfect 3+D role player who has won 3 titles (Green). They were also 5th in offensive rating and 5th in defensive rating in the NBA that year (although 1st in defensive rating by far after the Gasol trade).
Somebody is taking this Denver Nuggets group over that team? The team that's 5th in offensive rating and 15th in defensive rating this year? They have Nikola Jokic, who is undeniably one of the greatest bigs in NBA history, but the supporting cast (Murray, Porter, Gordon, Brown, KCP) absolutely pales in comparison to what the Raptors had. Their only other all-star on the roster is DeAndre Jordan, who is completely washed.
The Nuggets are certainly the best team in the league this season, but they don't compare to many champions in year's past. Defensively they're just not up to par with many of them. We're very much in a down period in the NBA right now.
