Yep. I did my first one at age 38 because of some symptoms I was having that turned out to be unrelated. Even so, they found some pre cancerous polyps that worried them enough that I'm back for another round 2 years later.
It's not a guarantee that it would have caused problems, but I'm pretty glad I went in when I did.
