When Mizzou was playing Norfolk State in the tourney, I think it was in Omaha. I had buddies say "Hey, wanna go see the game?" My exact response was 'nah - if they win, I'll expect it. If they lose - man, I don't wanna see that shit. All downside'.

I didn't go. I didn't even watch it on TV. For me it almost didn't happen. But for my buddies that went, they speak about that in hushed tones like my parents speak about the Kennedy Assassination. It's a deep wound.

On the flipside, I was 3 rows up at the 50 yard line in Indianapolis for THAT game. The folks back home experienced but by god, my buddy and I lived it. The drive back to Columbia from that game was dead silence. Didn't even turn the radio on. It was like someone had eaten a bag of puppies tail first and made us watch. We were too shellshocked to process anything. A friend that came with us brought his dad - at that point a 40+ year Chiefs fan who hasn't watched a game since. Even the Mahomes era hasn't brought him back - it just killed him.

I didn't consume sports content for months. I had my year long CP Sabbatical. That shit WRECKED me.
Yep, feel the exact same way on going to games... and if a team is leading comfortably, I'll think "well, at this point they either win or make me angry, so I'm going to bed.

And that's what makes some playoff games so tough, especially with Mahomes and KU... you really can't rule out a win no matter the circumstances, but there are times when you know it's still against your best interests to watch or attend.

It's a big reason I didn't fly to KC for the AFCCG this past postseason... didn't know about the injury for sure and losing to the Bengals again would have been ****ing excruciating live, but of course the pay off would have been glorious as well. The injury really threw a wrench in things.
