He signs it now and gets to practice for week 1, or we pull the offer and see him week 8 and tag him next off-season. He can earn 47m the next 2 years (19.5 + 27.5) or he can earn 34m (11m after losing game checks plus 23m tag next year), his choice.

This has been where I've been since the Florio article popped up with the alleged contract offer. The time to negotiate is over IMO, take it or leave it: You have until XYZ to accept or you can either come to work now or sit out until week 8. The Chiefs own his rights this year and next year for cheaper and lower risk than it would be to extend him.
