Having something authenticated is not as easy as they make it appear on TV. Plus as a prior poster mentioned, it can be crazy expensive.
One of the key things that many people aren't told is that you need to supply every possible piece of supporting evidence to prove your case, just like in court.
1. Ticket stubs from game
2. Pictures of guys signing the item
3. Dates, times and other facts that could corroborate your facts.
4. Knowing every person who signed the item. This can be the difference in getting something validated when you have a specific person who signed your item be on the team in a very tiny time window.
The amount of fake merch is so high that you pretty much authenticate ot yourself and then they agree.
Many times you might get an incomplete validation as they are insure and can't prove it.
A buddy of mine has a huge baseball card collection and he had quotes of over $5,000 from the top two authenticating services to catalog and validate his collection..
It ain't cheap.
