It was fairly common knowledge in Chicago, but he was Michael Jordan and everybody loved the Bulls and really loved finally having a dominant, winning team. Both Jordan and Pippen were notoriously shitty and cheap (Scotty's nickname was "No-Tippin' Pippen." I also heard whispers about Walter Payton being an enormous bastard when the cameras weren't rolling, but don't remember anything specific. But I think they all fall into the "don't meet your heroes" camp, which Mahomes definitely does not. And yes, all these guys were extremely fortunate to play in a time before social media. Especially Jordan.

My favorite Jordan story came from one of my lieutenants at Great Lakes, who had dated Jordan in college but broke it off because of his serial philandering. She was still somewhat friendly with him, though, and had his phone number. This was in the late 80s, before the championships but while Mike was a rising star. Several of the guys at the office asked her if she could get tickets, but she always said no, because she knew what she'd have to do to get them. Her direct quote was "Mike would **** a snake if you held it's head still."
