The third opportunity to deescalate was for Tyreek to not roll his window up. The fourth opportunity to de-escalate was by the second police officer who really overreacted pulling him out of the car and insulting him when he was on the ground. The fifth opportunity to deescalate was for the second cop to not pull Tyreek down so hard when he was standing on the curb. Tyreek certainly has experience being arrested and should know how to handle the situation, but the police officer has more experience and more of a training background in de-escalation, so his transgressions count double. That means we have three demerits against tyreke, and four demerits against the second officer. Therefore, I assign 44% blame to Tyreke and 56% to the police officer, though I feel like this is letting Tyreek off really easy. Tyreek was the guy who kept choosing to escalate the situation.
Pretty fair assessment although I think you have to also consider provocation versus threat. Tyreek was a threat on the road, which was addressed by the traffic stop. Think it’s universally agreed by now this was a legit traffic stop.

From there, tyreek provokes the officer but I think he’s keeping his hands on the wheel and he complies in providing ID. The only threat is putting the window up. And once the window is cracked open again, is he still a threat? Did the officer not give tyreek enough time to keep the window open? Or was the officer justified for fear that tyreek was gonna close the window again. It’s gray area but I feel like the cop was more annoyed than he was threatened. Which is some justification but to me doesn’t justify the extent that everything after that was physical. And it was largely one sided physical since tyreek isn’t really physically resisting arrest and seems to be scared into compliance.

So it still to me leans on tyreek being an idiot and a douche for egging it on. But the extent of the response was unwarranted.
