He may take more hits because of that, but they're often not the violent hits that we typically think about with the "quarterback hits" term. I saw a mini-interview with Joe Burrow the other day where he said something interesting. Yeah, I'll admit it: Joe Burrow said something interesting. He was asked about the number of sacks he takes, and he pftted. He said, "Sacks are really overrated. I don't care if I take a sack on third down because I'm holding the ball longer on third down to try to make a play. If no one's open and I take a sack, who cares as long as it doesn't push us out of field goal range?"
