Only issue I can figure is that we gave up the 5 that could become a 4 in the Hopkins deal and thus have theoretically tied up BOTH picks.

And we don't have a 2025 6th rounder (Hardman deal).

So if they wanted SOMETHING in 2025, it left us without many options. We could've offered them that early 7th (Jets 7th) and have provided a similar return to what they got, I guess. But that's still less. We could've tried to secure a 5th rounder this year from someone but I'm not real sure how (maybe the early 7th plus next years 5th to somebody for their 5th this year?). And that's gambling a bit when the Panthers may not have wanted to wait around for us to figure that out.

There may have just been some mechanical hangups getting the correct capital to beat that deal without badly overpaying.
