Now, there's nothing wrong with him maturing as a QB and being a better decision-maker, mind you. One would expect that as part of his growth and it'd be extremely difficult to argue with the results over that six or seven year span.
However, Mahomes shouldn"t become so risk-averse that he's leaving big, outcome-altering plays on the field in the biggest game of his career and no longer take the shots that propelled him to greatness to begin with.
It seemed he didn't revert to the "Old Mahomes" until he had absolutely no choice and the game was completely out of reach. That shouldn't be the case. Perhaps better protection solves this but I somewhat fear it's irreversible mental conditioning and an Alex-Smith-ification of how he plays the game.

Perhaps he's trying too hard to be like Brady, whose style of play was boring as vanilla. Brady made a living off of being Captain Check Down.
