It's been hypothesized that one could harness this for power but it's very impracticle because of the low frequency involved. I can see the thought of harnessing the power of lighting strikes but that's impractical as well due to the devices needed to catch and store the power (super high voltage) and the unpredictablility of lighting strikes.
