I was recently watching Gruden's QB Camp with Jaxson Dart, and Gruden hammered on Dart about protecting yourself as a QB and adjusting line protections to help keep you from getting hit. Unless an NFL coach is an idiot, they are going to operate just like Gruden and make sure it is in everyone's head, especially their QBs, to keep the QB clean.

So, with that, I really can't fathom where an NFL coach wants a WR over an LT. They also want their QB to be on top of their own shit.

That is the part where anyone can see eye-to-eye with you, but it stops there with your argument. The Bengals took Jonah Smith 11th overall in the 2019 draft, then took Burrow in the 2020 draft 1st overall, then took Chase in the 2021 draft 5th overall.

Jonah Smith was supposed to be the LT of the future. When they took Chase, they were headed into Smith's 3rd season, where you expect most guys to turn the corner and become the player they'll be for the bulk of their career. They weren't likely to take Sewell there. Now, you could argue they'd have a fairly immediate need at RT coming up, but I don't think that really should have been a huge argument at #5.

Sewell was OT1. If you have a chance to get OT1 and protect your Quarterback for 15 years it would be prudent to do so.
