I told him that my house was right down the street and that my daughter (maybe 13 at the time) was home by herself. Cop still would not let me pass. I gotta say that I did consider just riding past him but thought better of it. We went around and made it to our house. Then the cops were walking around everywhere looking for this guy. I told my daughter to not let our dogs outside as I didn't want some gung ho cop shooting them.
As it turned out, they were looking for a guy that had just been involved in a shootout with the FBI and other law enforcement at a seedy motel south of town. Errr....wait....maybe that was after. In any case, this guy had been living directly across the street from me for months. Had no idea such a thug was there. Kinda scary to think about. He never really talked to anyone so I guess that's good.
I'm so glad we moved out of the city 5.5 years ago.

Rentals are the big problem. The house right next to me was a rental for a long time and we had some real doozies. One family from down the holler with 8 cars and every one of them leaked oil...
A nice Mexican family bought that house about 10 years ago, so i'm insulated by several houses on all sides with good neighbors. It's just that area at the beginning of the street.
