I mean I think Favre is a moron who understands football. That's where I started. I think the league has had a fair number of stupid people who see the game incredibly well somehow.
But those guys probably can't balance a checkbook and they sweat when they read.
I think it's probably more likely than not that Brett Favre was someone's useful idiot. What better sort than a celebrity who's certainly not known as an intellectually curious sort.
Might he need to face some retribution for being THAT gullible? Sure - probably. But am I going to jump all the way to him being a mastermind of some multi-tier welfare fraud scheme? Or even having more than a passing understanding that something along those lines might even exist? Nah.
If you want to call that willful ignorance and castigate him for it -- I get it. It's perhaps a fair conclusion. I just can't get all the way to malicious.

I worked with a college football team.
Some of the brightest football minds, guys who would understand concepts immediately, often struggled remembering anything in the classroom. Some of it was interest but most of it revolved around how they learned. They were doers not readers.
