I had lens replacement surgery done last June on both eyes and haven't regretted it. As another poster stated, once you get over the fact that they are operating on your eye, it is really a simple process. Had to wear a patch over my eye for 24 hours, no strenuous physical activity for 10 days and that was it.
The one downside is that if you get a multifocal lens (like a bifocal or trifocal) you may see halos around car headlights etc when driving at night.
IF I had to do it again, I'd go with a single focal lens, set for far vision, and use a cheap pair of readers for anything close-up. No halos with that setup
