If I had to guess, they'll kinda get that feedback and season 3 will be tighter all around. If not, we can all remember season 1 most fondly and the rest as just another show.

That's the crux of the issue. Last Of Us Part One was genuinely one of the greatest narratives in a game of all time. Part Two is just kind of there and fell way short of expectations which is why it got and still gets so much flack.
