Vermeil's right on the Jimmy Smith play. It was a perfect pass and a great catch. A taller DB might have been able to defend it, but it was good play by Jax.
But that play isn't the one that bothers me. It's the play where they scored late in the fourth. McReception cannot defend a fade to the corner. They ran the exact same play on the conversion and it was just as easy for them. Any play that takes advantage of McReception's height has been effective this year.
Frankly, I'm getting tired of Vermeil standing by his boys. Someone needs to light a fire under these guys asses, and a tear and a pat on the ass isn't going to do it.
McReception has played poorly enough that Bartee should at least be getting some time as #2 DB. Maybe he's no better, but I think Dexter's play has at least given the coaches an excuse to find out.
