I have no issues with this signing. Everything I've read pointed to using a mix of 4-3 / 3-4 next season. Also, they want to be more versatile with their players... moving them from one position or another, depending on the situation.
Who knows how all of this will play out... I just know it's never a bad thing to have a guy with Gold's talent on your defense.

And the key word there is versatile. Not just in game situation...but through the whole season. Gold is going to help us with matchups.
