I'm not giving "props" to his low competence dumb ass...Considering the the buffoon backed the team into a corner by not signing one of the many quality FA corners this was the best possibility of what was left but if he wasn't such a piss poor GM Rolle would have been signed for less money and we would be drafting in the 2nd round tomorrow.
Because our offense is long in the tooth and the window of opportunity to win a Super Bowl is closing fast this was a solid move but Surtain is 29 years old and has been bothered by his knee...With the exception of the real freak Darrell Green, no top CB stays at a high level much beyond 31 to 32 years old. This has a tremendous chance of being a very expensive band aid.
The fact that we were bidding against virtually nobody tells you that when you consider the draft pick compensation, his age and the size of the contract we didn't make out with any special deal.
